Garden Pond
Adding a garden pond to a yard can add much more appeal
to the area for people, as well as birds and other wild animals. They
can be built into almost any yard big or small. Some ponds can be big
enough to have bridges and islands, even a row boat. Initially they
are a big investment, and can take a lot of work to create but once
completed they beautify any yard.
Most garden ponds have a pump to filter the water and keep it circulating.
The size of the pump depends on the size of the pond, as well as the
plant and aquatic life in the pond. Some fish are very good at filtering
small areas and many plants can provide the same service. Using natural
systems to keep the pond clean and flourishing can be incredibly rewarding,
but takes much more knowledge as well as time and patience.
The more elaborate the garden pond is, the more difficult it will be
to set up and maintain. The amount of money and time spent on it also
determine the complexity of the pond. Elaborate systems may take away
some of the daily cleaning, but the more pieces added to the system
means that it is more likely to fail and require repair.
