Garden Furniture
Garden furniture comes in many different types of materials
and almost all of them are suitable for extended outdoor use. Plastic
patio and lawn chairs are some of the cheapest options and most commonly
come in green or white. They aren’t the most visually pleasing
chairs, but they are cost effective and are very easy to clean.
Wood garden furniture is also very common. Cedar is often used because
it has a beautiful natural finish, and it is also naturally water resistant
and not prone to warp. Other woods need to be sealed and treated to
survive extended sun and water exposure. Picnic tables and swinging
benches are very popular outdoor furniture. A hammock is a great addition
if there are anchor points to attach it to.
Metal is being increasingly used in garden furniture as well. Some
metals, such as iron and steel are prone to rust and deteriorate over
time if they are not taken care of. Paint is very effective at keeping
rust from spreading and it also looks good. Yearly repainting of steel
and iron will help them last for years. Bronze has been used since ancient
times for sculptures and furniture and is one of the most durable and
long lasting materials available and also develops a rich patina over
time which protects the metal underneath.
