Garden Fountains
Garden fountains are popular in many ponds and water gardens
that are already utilizing a pump. The pump can serve two purposes,
it can clean and aerate the water which is good for fish and plant life,
and it can also be easily turned into a fountain. Many pumps come with
a fountain attachment that directs the water up into the air instead
of back into the water, but if it isn’t included it can easily
be created.
Garden fountains come in many shapes and configurations to suit any
ones style or needs. There are some that have marble spheres that slowly
spin and swirl on a cushion of water. Some fountains produce a smooth
semi-sphere of water that looks like a big bubble of water. There are
fountains that have oscillating heads that rotate and spray changing
sprays. Some time the sprays to create interesting effects and some
even have motorized nozzles to create choreographed water dances.
Garden fountains come in a variety of styles, especially ones that
are reminiscent of ancient Greek and roman fountains. Asian designs
are also very common and popular, especially in the western United States.
Contemporary designs are often very geometric, employing combinations
of simple shapes to create interesting and complex fountains.
