Garden Fountains, Bird Baths, and Bird Feeders

Garden FountainsGardening is not only a great way to beautify the surrounding area, it is also a cathartic and soothing way to spend time. There is something very satisfying about seeing the effort and hard work involved with gardens turn into something that can be beautiful and even nutritious. Depending on the environment there are many different types of gardens that can be grown or created. Even cold and snowy environments are suitable places for certain types of gardens. Just be sure to have the proper bird supplies for your feathered friends. You can find many great deals at an online pet store, often, for a discounted price.

Winter gardens have plants that are especially cold tolerant, as well as grow well in limited light or shade. A good ground cover is English Ivy, which remains green all year round and will last from season to season. The problem many people have in cold environments is growing plants that do not survive past a single frost. Many gardeners choose these plants for their beauty when plants should be selected for hardiness.

In warmer climates there are many more options for home and garden plants. Water gardens are becoming increasingly popular because they not only grow plants well, they can be stocked with fish and integrated into the landscape to look like a truly beautiful oasis. Water lilies, bamboo, and other plants can grow right in the water, and many other plants grow very well around the pond. If it’s going to be stocked with fish planting underwater oxygenating plants can eliminate the need for hyroponic supplies like a pump. A pond doesn’t need a pump for fish to survive, but re-oxygenating the water, either with plants or a pump, allows for more fish and healthier plants.

With a pump, a garden pond can hold more fish, allow more plants to grow as well as providing that soothing trickling sound. Waterfalls and garden fountains can also be integrated into the pump system allowing for visually and auditory stimulating areas. They also attract a wide variety of birds and other wildlife turning that pond into giant garden bird baths. Garden bird feeders are good for feeding birds, but they are attracted to bodies of water, especially ones that are secluded and thus safer. To make a bird feeder most effective it should be placed by a bird bath of some sort.

There are many garden ideas that can be realized with just a little bit of effort and planning. When planting trees, be sure to take into account how large that tree is going to get, it won’t be a cute sapling forever and trees roots are strong enough to tear apart sidewalks, foundations and swimming pools. There are many different tools and garden supplies that can be used, but the simple spade and a pair of clippers are the most commonly used. You can make small improvements to the look of your garden by installing simple things like garden fountains.

Even if there is no yard or land available it is still possible to grow a variety of plants. Container gardens allow plants to be grown on even the smallest of patios, some even fit on a window sill. The containers are usually wider and shallower than a traditional potted plant to allow for a variety of plants. Typically the plants are harvested and new plants allowed to grow in their place. The difficult part is keeping the plants watered correctly because there is much less soil for them use. This allows the roots to dry out quicker, or drown quicker depending on the amount of water. Hydroponics are a type of container gardening that uses a nutrient solution that flows through the roots which are also exposed to air to promote growth.

Once the garden is growing, it is time to sit back and enjoy the benefits of all that labor and time. Garden furniture can complement any backyard and create an oasis that can be enjoyed by anyone. Clever gardeners are actually growing the furniture right out of the ground by grafting and binding saplings together to create benches and chairs that will grow and evolve with the garden.
